Interview with a success story
Each week we profile a success story and hopefully inspire you to get motivated to make a positive change in your life. This past week we sat down with Paul A. to discuss his recent comeback to competitive Masters category cycling.
MHJ.com: Tell us about your comeback to cycling and how you changed your life.
Paul A.: In the 90's when I was single and in my 20's I was into cycling and racing for fun and fitness. I acheived several goals in cycling that I had set for myself. Into my early 30's I experienced the common changes that we all go through, a new job, marriage, moving to a new town, etc. I put cycling on the back burner literally for almost 5 years. My weight balloned up to 35 pounds over my cycling weight. In the summer of 2005 I looked in the mirror and said this insanity has to stop!
MHJ.com: What was your main motivation for change?
Paul A.: I didn't want be the fat dad. You see them everywhere. They can't run around or play with their kids. That's just not the way I wanted to be. Plus my health is vitally important - you know the cliche - without your health you have nothing. This is absolutely true.
